Hi, my name is Dominga. This is my story. I arrived at an orphanage at the age of 14 because of extreme poverty. I really wanted to get out of the life I was living. Corazon de Vida Founder Hilda says she was there the day I entered the group home. She always believed in me; she knew that the need I had would make me cling to a brighter future.

Living there was the best thing that could have happened to me. I learned to value things, I had a family, and I felt safe. I finally knew what it was like to shower with hot water, to eat three times a day, to be clean and tidy, but the most beautiful thing I learned was about God's love. Corazon de Vida made me feel part of their family, and they really believed that my life could be different.

Initially, pursuing higher education was a difficult decision for me, but I persevered and graduated with a 9.9 GPA, and I proudly hold an accounting degree from UABC. Corazon de Vida covered my academic expenses during my time at the university. They were my emotional support and my motivation. Studying accounting has given me a better chance of getting a job, and I can apply it in different areas.

Currently, I own my own craft business, started a family with my loving husband, and we live in a tranquil place outside the city. Our handcrafted pieces are sold at the Siñaw Kuatay ecotourism park and the Bruma market. I believe I have worked hard enough to build a client base for a future business venture where I can advise prospective business owners on all things accounting.
